El lagoftalmos nocturno tiene nombre de monstruo clase "C", pero acredita en su palmarés poco más que una acción involuntaria, devenida en síndrome a los efectos de su estudio y tratamiento. Eso sólo bastaría para ocultarse.

Me acompaña desde hace al menos dos décadas y media, a intervalos más o menos regulares. Al comienzo (fines de los noventa), cada episodio concluía en la guardia del Hospital Santa Lucía. Hoy ya no me inspira el menor respeto. Se resuelve con agua fría de la canilla (en definitiva, es un problema de humedad, nada más), y un pañuelo negro de seda, aplicado alla "corsaro nero" sobre el ojo afectado.

Me dio hoy. Hacía mucho que no me daba.

Hacía un tiempo que no me pasaba

Podemos estar hablando de cualquier cosa. Una entrada que encontré en una enciclopedia en línea, por ejemplo. Sobre un jugador de béisbol con la orden asesinar a un genio. Ella no solo reconoce inmediatamente el alto índice cinematografiable del relato, también sabe que ya fue filmado, apenas un par de años atrás. Pero no solo eso. También recuerda que el personaje principal de una de esas series de las que todo el mundo habla y yo nunca miro, usa el apellido del genio como heterónimo. La serie y el relato no tienen otro punto de contacto más que ése. No estoy seguro, pero tampoco me atrevo a preguntar.

Y mientras yo me quedo procurando encontrarle una versión inteligible, para compartir, a todo esto, ella vuelve a dormirse. Y a mí me parece tranquilizador. Muy tranquilizador.

At the beginning of December, news about Heisenberg giving a lecture in Zurich reached the OSS, and Berg was assigned the task of attending the lecture and determining "if anything Heisenberg said convinced him the Germans were close to a bomb." If Berg came to the conclusion that the Germans were close, he had orders to shoot Heisenberg; Berg determined that the Germans were not close."
